Smith’s family own a tiny craft brewery in Denver?

Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, Spangalang Brewery was struggling. A tiny beer maker located in the former DMV office in Five Points Plaza, Spangalang had opened in 2015 and become a favorite for locals, but not the kind of regional draw that drives huge growth. So when brewery owners Darren Boyd and Taylor Rees got a major investment offer from their landlord, the Flyfisher Group, they planned to accept. Flyfisher, which owns or operates several properties and businesses in the neighborhood, would take a 40% share, and as a Black-owned business, it would lend legitimacy in the historically Black neighborhood, Rees said at the time.John Leyba, The Denver PostRobert Smith, the wealthiest African American and DU’s graduate school commencement speaker was photographed on June 9, 2017. Denver Post Broncos writer Parker Gabriel posts his Broncos Mailbag weekly during the season and periodically during the offseason. Click here to submit a question.Hey Parker, that was one of the wildest endings to a game I’ve ever seen. It feels strange to be on this end of one after the last few seasons. My question is in regard to the Broncos’ inability to capitalize on offense. We spent a lot of time chastising Vance Joseph earlier in the season (and with good reason), but it seems like Sean Payton and Joe Lombardi have gotten off scot-free with the offense. The defense gave us so many opportunities, but we only found the end zone twice. That should’ve been a lopsided victory if we could only get the ball moving. What do you think?— Wallace G., BrightonYo Wallace, thanks for writing in and getting us going. It was indeed a wild ending to Monday night’s win at Buffalo. And you’re spot on about the Broncos’ inability to capitalize. Payton even mentioned it ...WATCH: Breaking down the Broncos’ Monday Night Football win at Buffalo and looking ahead to a critical two-game home stand

Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 07:13:20 GMT
America’s veterans deserve the best medical care money can buy.But despite a $2 billion new facility, increased funding, and years of promises, the Department of Veterans Affairs isn’t even offering competent and consistent care in the Eastern Colorado Health Care System at this point. The Denver Post’s Sam Tabachnik reported Sunday on a vast scandal of incompetence, cover-ups and misconduct at the VA system headquartered out of Aurora’s new hospital. The allegations lodged by a dozen current and former employees are alarming and depressing. And the real victims in this story are the estimated hundred thousand veterans relying on this system for their health care – veterans who were put on waiting lists by doctors for necessary medical equipment only to have the head of the department order employees to erase the orders to lessen the backlog. The problems in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service could be just the tip of the iceberg of dysfunction, given the level of complaints Tabachn...Latest news
