Colorado Gov. Jared Polis hints at veto of bill that could delay gray wolf reintroduction

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 16:50:35 GMT

Expect Colorado’s wildlife officials to begin releasing gray wolves back into forests along the Western Slope by the end of the year now that Gov. Jared Polis seems ready to clear any potential delays.Polis suggested that he would veto Senate Bill 23-256 after noting that Colorado Department of Natural Resources officials, and other state representatives, opposed the measure and warned that it could delay the plan to begin releasing wolves by December.“There shouldn’t be a lot of suspense on that one,” Polis told reporters Tuesday morning, noting that his office is still analyzing the measure, which legislators passed to his desk earlier this month.Since voters narrowly – and controversially – approved the reintroduction effort outlined in the 2020 measure Proposition 114, state wildlife officials have been developing their plan to bring the predators back and expected to begin capturing and releasing them by December. But Senate Bill 23-256, proposed late in the legislative session...

Tucker Carlson has announced his return to broadcasting, though it won't be on television.Instead, Carlson is bringing his show to Twitter. In an announcement posted to the social media platform Tuesday afternoon, Carlson excoriated the news industry as peddling in "at the most basic level ... a lie of the stealthiest and most insidious kind." Defamation suit produced trove of Tucker Carlson messages Carlson added that the news business has limits, "and if you bump up against those limits often enough, you will be fired for it.""That's not a guess; it's guaranteed," he added. Victoria's new secret: Streaming video

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 16:50:35 GMT

After catching heat for objectifying women with its pencil-skinny models parading around with angel wings in their unmentionables, Victoria's Secret is reinventing its lingerie fashion shows. The semi-nudie extravaganzas disappeared five years ago after critics said (correctly) that the bouillabaisse of bras and panties glorified unrealistic body types. Now Victoria's Secret is making another go of things. But this time the angel wings are adios, the event will be packaged as a feature film and it will be available on streaming services."This film is the ultimate expression of the Victoria's Secret brand transformation," Raúl Martinez, the company's head creative director, said in a statement."It will be driven by fashion, glamor and entertainment, with a nod to beloved iconography from the past but in a bold, redefined way," he said. Those are pretty high-falutin' words for what's essentially soft-core porn (at least in the eyes of many males who watched past Victoria's Secret fashion...

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 16:50:35 GMT

City Lights Theater Company marked its 40th anniversary last Saturday with a Ruby Gala at the Holiday Inn in San Jose that lived up to the name — at least when it came to the red decor and attire. It was a night filled with tributes to longtime supporters and showstopping musical performances that had the crowd cheering. But it was also a night with a message delivered by Executive Artistic Director Lisa Mallette: City Lights needs to find a new home — and fast. The company’s current 100-seat performance space at 529 S. Second St. is expected to be developed into housing — a threat that’s been hanging over City Lights for more than five years now.“Theater takes a community to build a community,” she said, adding that theater changes people’s lives — both the performers and the audience members. “That’s why we’re looking for a new space. … We’re not going anywhere. We’re going to be here for anot...

In a controversial New York Times profile published Sunday, writer Amy Chozick briefly addresses Elizabeth Holmes’ choice to twice get pregnant — the first time after the Theranos founder was indicted in “one of the most notorious fraud cases in recent history,” and the second time after she was found guilty on four counts of swindling investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars and faced the possibility of going away to prison for many years.Holmes chalks up her curious family planning choices to “just bad timing,” while writer Amy Chozick said the disgraced tech mogul and her partner Billy Evans believed she could be immune to consequences. “They did not anticipate that she would be indicted,” Chozick wrote. “They did not anticipate that she would be sentenced to 11 years. They always wanted a big family.”But as Holmes was preparing to leave her 3-month-old daughter and 20-month-old son to spend more than a decade in prison, she gave the girl a name she may ...

But for now we’re just grateful to be here.”He offered no other details, and a message to his lawyer, Bryan Freedman, was not immediately returned. It’s unclear what these plans mean for his remaining contract with Fox; typically television companies include a no-compete clause when someone leaves the air.
