By Clare Foran, Morgan Rimmer and Kristin Wilson | CNNThe Senate passed a critical national defense policy bill Thursday evening – setting up a showdown with the Republican-controlled House. The House passed its own version of the bill – known as the National Defense Authorization Act – earlier this month after adopting a series of controversial amendments pushed by hardline conservatives. Now that the Senate has passed its NDAA bill, lawmakers will need to reconcile the Senate bill and the House bill by negotiating a compromise version that can pass both chambers. The NDAA sets the policy agenda and authorizes funding for the Department of Defense annually. The controversial amendments added to the House bill included provisions to restrict abortion and transgender health care access and eliminate diversity and inclusion programs. "I was a proud Tesla owner a few months ago. I was certain that I had invested in a reliable and safe car, in a brand that pioneers the future. My faith was shaken though when autopilot went horribly wrong, leading to a harrowing event," Seneca Musoka wrote on LinkedIn. (KRON) -- Three people were arrested for attempting to steal a car in Oakley on Tuesday, the city's police department said. The police chief said thieves are using technology to steal certain kinds of cars, and this kind of theft is becoming more common. "I would not normally put such specific information out regarding the tactics and tools thieves use to steal because I do not want to be part of the 'criminal education program,'" OPD Chief Paul Beard said. "This issue however, has become such a problem that I want potential victims to be aware of how vulnerable they are to this kind of theft." The theft occurred on the 200 block of Yellow Rose Circle at about 6:10 p.m., the Oakley Police Department said. The victim interrupted the theft and followed the suspects, helping police catch them. OPD said the victim's car window was broken, and the suspects may have wanted it for its engine.
