Officials said at least two people onboard have been injured and four others were transported to the hospital after the chopper crashed on a triplex building. The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. in the area of 1201 NW 6th Ave. where video footage showed a trail of smoke coming off the chopper that went down fast. The chopper ultimately landed on a triplex apartment building. Live video footage from 7SkyForce showed several fire rescue trucks on the scene as they worked to manage the blaze as it is believed the helicopter did go up in flames when it crashed into the residential building. TAMPA, Fla. (WSVN) — As the Sunshine State gears up for the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Idalia, a new problem has emerged at the fuel pump, adding to the challenges faced by Florida residents preparing for the approaching storm. Officials are warning that regular fuel purchased after 10 a.m. on Saturday might have been cross-mixed with diesel, posing potential complications for vehicle owners. The issue stems from fuel supplied by CITGO from the Port of Tampa, according to statements from Florida authorities. Workers reportedly made an error, introducing diesel into tanks that were designated for regular gasoline. This mix-up could lead to engine problems for consumers who unwittingly filled their vehicles with the contaminated fuel. The timing of this fuel contamination problem couldn’t be worse, as many Floridians are making preparations, including evacuations, ahead of the looming Tropical Storm Idalia. The storm’s approach has prompted residents to fuel ...Poland launches probe as Legionella confirmed in city water supply

Legionella bacteria have been confirmed in the water supply system of the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów, with the country’s counterintelligence agency ABW investigating whether the city is the target of deliberate contamination.Rzeszów is Poland’s main logistics hub for sending military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and a base for U.S. troops. The city has been the center of a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in the country, with 11 deaths and 144 cases to date since mid-August. The deaths all involved people aged between 64 to 95 with pre-existing health problems.Four out of nine tested samples from Rzeszów’s water supply system confirmed the presence of legionella bacteria, which cause Legionnaires’ disease, the local sanitary and epidemiological service Sanepid said Monday. However, the source of the contamination is unclear.“At this moment, the received results … do not provide a basis to determine the potential source of infection,” it said in a statement. Authorities have officially closed their investigation into the death of a woman once dubbed the “Lady of the Dunes,” a year after DNA analysis allowed officials to identify the victim nearly 50 years after her body was found.Back on July 26, 1974, the body of Ruth Marie Terry was found on Race Point Beach in Provincetown, with authorities determining her cause of death was likely a blow to the head. However, Terry would go on to become the state’s oldest unidentified homicide victim as officials were unable to identify her at the time, with her body severely mutilated. She was also believed to have been killed several weeks prior to her discovery. But in October 2022, state and federal officials said that through DNA analysis, investigators were able to confirm Terry as the victim, allowing the FBI and others to further pursue leads, including one connecting her late husband to the case.Since last year, the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, Provincetown...March 4, 2024, trial date set for Trump in US case charging him with plotting to overturn election

WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge on Monday set a March 4, 2024, trial date for Donald Trump in the federal case in Washington charging the former president with trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The decision from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan denied a defense request to push the trial back until April 2026, about a year and a half after the 2024 election, but also sets it later than the January date proposed by special counsel Jack Smith’s team.“The public has a right to prompt and efficient resolution of this matter,” she said.If the date holds, it would come right in the middle of the Republican presidential nominating calendar and the day before Super Tuesday, a crucial voting day when the largest number of delegates are up for grabs.Trump, a Republican, was charged earlier this month in a four-count indictment with scheming to undo his loss to Joe Biden, a Democrat, in the 2020 election. The federal election subversion p...After eight months on the job, state’s Transportation Secretary to step down

Montreal police are warning young people to be careful online after the number of sextortion cases they’ve seen has risen dramatically. The force says its child sex exploitation unit has already received more than 100 complaints this year, compared to about 30 at the same time last year. Police say victims are most often young men between the ages of 14 and 17 who are contacted online by people posing as teen girls. The perpetrator builds the victim’s trust before asking for intimate photos or videos, only to threaten to publish the images or send them to family and friends if a payment isn’t sent.Police are suggesting that young people use a pseudonym online, and should not reveal their true age, hometown or interests.Officers are also warning people not to undress in front of a camera and to cease communication with the extorter and contact police if they are targeted. LONDON (AP) — Thousands of air travelers faced delays on Monday after Britain’s air traffic control system was hit by a breakdown that slowed takeoffs and landings across the U.K. on one of the busiest travel days of the year.More than three hours after it reported the “technical issue,” flight control operator National Air Traffic Services said it had “identified and remedied” the problem and flights could begin to return to normal. But scores of flights were canceled, and Heathrow Airport said its schedules would be “significantly disrupted” for the rest of the day.NATS said the outage had hit its ability to process flight plans automatically, meaning the plans had to be input manually, a much slower process. It did not disclose the cause of the problem. The service said it had “applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety” but that U.K. airspace remained open. After fixing the problem, NATS said it was “working closely with airlines and airports to manage the fl...Latest news
